Recruitment of High-level Talents by the School of Life Sciences, Peking University

日期: 2024-02-05

The School of Life Sciences at Peking University is actively seeking high-level talents from both domestic and international sources. The key details of this recruitment initiative are outlined below:

I. School Overview

Established in 1993 on the foundation of the Biology Department, founded in 1925, the School of Life Sciences at Peking University is one of China's earliest biology departments. Originating from the merger of biology departments at Peking University, Yenching University, and Tsinghua University during the 1952 nationwide higher education restructuring, the school has grown into a prominent institution.

Presently, the school boasts two national key laboratories, one key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, five national key disciplines, and eight doctoral disciplines. The faculty includes 75 professors/researchers, among whom are 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 member of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), and 2 members of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). The faculty also comprises 6 recipients of overseas high-level talent projects, 26 recipients of the overseas high-level talent project (youth category), 14 Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professors, 27 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 10 recipients of the National  Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, 10 chief scientists of the National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), and 10 project leaders of National Key Research and Development Program of China.

Our faculty are currently focused on the following research areas:

-           Biochemistry and Molecular Biology: DNA metabolism, DNA vaccine development, chromatin replication and epigenetic inheritance, membrane biology, proteomics, macromolecule structure and gene modification technology.

-           Bioinformatics and Genomics: computational genomics, cancer genomics, personalized medicine, high-throughput bioinformatics analysis and modeling, non-coding RNA evolution and function, computational neurosciences and next-generation sequencing.

-           Botany and Biotechnology: plant development, plant stress signal transduction, plant diversification and evolution, plant environmental adaption, plant photobiology, non-coding RNA function, plant-virus interaction, plant reproductive biology, plant hormone signaling and metabolism, and plant epigenetics.

-           Cell Biology, Genetics and Developmental Biology: molecular immunology, cytoskeleton, neuronal development, stem cell and regenerative medicine, cellular metabolism disorder, apoptosis, neurodegenerative disease and cancer biology.

-           Physiology and Biophysics: neurobiology, cell death and senescence, visual perception, receptor biology, single cell genomics, single-molecule enzymology, single-molecule imaging and in vivo cell imaging, and fluorescent indicator development.

-           Zoology: genome diversification and evolution, conservation biology, population ecology and molecular ecology, conservation genetics, animal physiology and animal behaviors.
