摘要:

Functional decline and dysregulation of stem cells contribute to tissue and organismal aging. Significant changes in transcriptome during aging, from altered gene expression to aberrant transcription, have been observed in various tissues and cell types, even at the single-cell level. These changes are linked to decline in stem cell function and loss of stem cell identity. However, the molecular mechanisms that underlie these changes remain poorly understood. In this talk, I will discuss the epigenetic mechanisms we have learned from the budding yeast replicative aging, how they can be applied to understanding profound chromatin changes during mammalian aging, and how these chromatin changes drive transcriptomic changes observed in aged stem cells and tissues.

報告人簡介:

Dr. Weiwei Dang is an associate professor at Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine. He got his BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Peking University in 1999, completed his PhD at Southern Illinois University in 2006, and pursued a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2011. His professional interests lie in utilizing yeast replicative aging as a model, together with human primary cell lines and adult stem cells, to study evolutionarily conserved epigenetic mechanisms during aging and development of age-related cancers.
